Last week, the Democrats had their turn to share their platform with the country, and this week ahead it is time for the Republican’s to have that same turn. However, a storm is set to hit the country in the form of Gustav. If this storm is bad enough, word has it that the Republican National Convention might be delayed depending on how badly Hurricane Gustav affects the country.

This comes to us via Broadcasting & Cable. There is no word that this is a definite plan yet, but an eye is being focused on the hurricane. The Republican National Convention is set to take place in Minnesota starting September Monday. Earlier this week, John McCain picked Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. On Sunday morning, George Bush and Dick Cheney both announced that they will not be make it to the convention.

At this time, Gustav is quickly heading towards the Gulf Coast, and it will be making landfall near New Orleans Monday morning. This storm could possibly be stronger than Katrina, which hit and devastated New Orleans three years ago. The Democratic National Convention this week in Denver was watched by the country, and perhaps even the world as we are looking ahead to who might be our next president. Now we know that when Barack Obama took the stage, 38 million people tuned in to watch him deliver his speech. This is more than the number that tuned in to watch the Oscars this year, and the opening ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Now the people of the United States are waiting for the other side to have their say as McCain now has picked a running mate in Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

 If there was ever a family that deserved their own soap opera, it would be the Lohan family. Lindsay has come out against her father Michael Lohan calling him a bully and a public embarrassment on her blog after he attacked her relationship with Samanta Ronson. This isn’t the first time she has spoken out against her father. Michael was pissed off to say the least.

All of this is happening when Lindsay’s uncle is sent to jail for defrauding the United States government. He has been sentenced to one year behind bars. If it wasn’t already bad enough, E! News is reporting that Lindsay’s grandfather passed away on Thursday, and this is now bringing the family together. Yes, folks! It is a soap opera.

What does Susan Duff do when she needs money for Hilary’s 21st birthday party? She takes Hilary’s daddy to court. She asked for $25,000 from her ex-husband because that is just how much it cost when they decided to throw Haylie a birthday party when she turned 21. Susan didn’t get the $25,000 she was asking for, but she received about half of that and another small bonus surprise.

Bob Duff was sent off in handcuffs and will spend a little time in jail for selling off assets from the estate without permission. He sold over $300,000 in stocks, and he will have to pay back the money he earned from that sale. I think the best song for Hilary’s birthday would be, its my party and I’ll cry if I want to. Susan didn’t expect to see Hilary’s father thrown in the slammer! Oops? Her bad.

E! News has released the news that Michael Bolton and Desperate Housewife Nicolette Sheridan have ended their engagement. The couple has been dating off since 1992. They broke up in 1997 and then reunited in 2005. Soon after they announced their plans to marry. The two made the announcement earlier this week. This seems to be one of those quieter Hollywood couples you only hear about when things go sour. If they parted once before, there is always a chance for them to date once again. A break doesn’t always mean the end, especially when it comes to couples in Hollywood. Sheridan returns on Desperate Housewives in September.

All eyes of the country are on Denver this week as the Democratic Convention. Stars are making their way to the city to put their support behind the Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama.  Celebrities in Denver or planning to stop by during the week ahead include Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson.

However, not all is well in Denver. TMZ is reporting that a plot to assassinate the presidential hopeful was stopped. One man was stopped outside of Denver with a car full of guns, and he led the police to the location of two others involved in the plot waiting for him in Denver. All men are in custody, and they are said to be members of a white supremacy group. This is one crazy world we live in today. Hopefully, a close eye and care are given in the days ahead.

Last month, Andy Dick was arrested outside a chicken restaurant in California. At that time, he was charged for sexual battery for pulling down the top of a teen girl. Now it looks like that charge will be dropped, and he will instead be charged with battery. This means he will not be labeled as a sex offender if convicted of the charges against him. So no he hasn’t gotten off the charges completely, but battery is better than sexual assault! At least in the minds of some. He will go to court next week to face the charges against including the battery charge and public intoxication.

This seems to be the norm these days. Another celebrity was stopped by the cops early Sunday morning. Sean Combs was driving through town with his group of people, when the cops stopped one of the cars traveling with him for expired tags. One man became agitated, and this caused a few of the others that all stopped in the road when the one car in their party was pulled over. Cops unsure of the groups intentions pulled their guns out. It is said they weren’t aware that Combs was with the group, but things calmed quickly, and no tickets were given. The car being driven and stopped was a rental. All is well in Hollywood today.

Obama Picks A Running MateLate last night or early today, depending on how you see it, presidential candidate Barack Obama finally picked up someone to run with him on the Democratic ticket. He picked Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. from Delaware. Many are now going who?! That is the general consensus. Many were hoping to see Obama pick up Hilary Clinton picked up as his vice presidential candidate.

The few that I have spoken to since this news broke are scratching their hands, and some are even saying Obama has lost their vote. They will now vote for the other side, and if this happens a lot we could see McCain take office, and we would have another four years under Republican rule. If that happens, this country is in trouble. Big trouble! This is a country in crisis, and we need change. Obama could be the force behind that change, but he picked the wrong person to run by his side.

27 Dresses and Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl was recently stopped by a cop after she threw away her cigarette on the ground. The officer was just a few feet away when the actress did this, and he told her to pick it up and throw it in the trash, which was just ten feet away.

Once she did that, the officer left her with a warning. If he caught her littering the streets again, he would leave her with a fine. The actress had just been out to lunch with her mom when the officer’s attention was caught. Good thing he stopped her. We have enough trash on the streets without someone adding even more to it.
